A Bad Mad Sad Day for Mama Bear by Mayra Calvani (Children’s Book Review)

A Bad Mad Sad Day for Mama Bear by Mayra Calvani is a wonderful reminder for both children and parents of how very special the parent-child relationship is even during our roughest days!  Poor Mama Bear is having a really tough day.  Breakfast is ruined, the car won’t start, grocery shopping is a disaster, and unexpected guests take over her home.  She doesn’t even have any good ideas to add to her novel and there hasn’t been a chance for rest all day long!  But……one look at her delightful youngster, Little Bear and the whole world looks like a better place!

The book is well illustrated with colorful and fun images and has just enough repetition in the story line to keep the interest of the little ones.  There is a fair amount of wording, making the book appropriate as a read aloud for young children ages 3 and up and as an early reader for children ages 5-7.  The book has a fabulous message:  a loving family makes so many of the everyday trials and tribulations insignificant in comparison to the joy and happiness of being with loved ones 🙂
