Robin Lee Hatcher’s A Promise Kept is a Very Different Kind of Fairy Tale Kindle HDX Giveaway &

Don’t miss Robin Lee Hatcher‘s stunning new novel, A Promise KeptRobin is celebrating with a fun giveaway and an encouraging Facebook Author Chat Party.

Many thanks to the author and Litfuse Publicity for providing me a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

A Promise Kept is a different kind of fairy tale; one with pitfalls, tragedy, and real life struggles on the path to a happy ending.  Robin Lee Hatcher takes the reader on a journey through the lives of two women (Allison and her Great Aunt Emma).  Both women are tested in their faith by marriage to men who have severe issues with alcohol.  One husband is battling his alcoholism during the rise of prohibition and bootlegging liquor in his bathtub to help makes ends meet, while the other is a modern day alcoholic who has failed time and time again to control his addiction.  The ladies and the development of their ability to enjoy their adulthood despite obstacles and deviations from the “happy every after” they expected is the true essence of this inspiring novel.

Written by an author whose personal experience with a troubled marriage and an alcoholic husband touch every page, this novel is a very moving testimonial of the ability for the Lord to work in mystery ways to guide our lives and answer our prayers.  Although, the significant issues the characters are attempting to resolve are focused on issues with alcoholism the focus of the author on prayer and faith in God keep the story line applicable and relatable to anyone who has ever doubted their understanding of God’s wishes for their life.  This story is uplifting and encouraging to both those strong in their faith and those struggling with putting trust in God; a welcome and enjoyable read!

Reasons to Read: A Promise Kept is truly a delightful, entertaining read with a consistent Christian presence.  The characters are believable, likable, and relatable.  The chapters are short enough that busy moms like myself can read a snippet at a time and walk away feeling as through you got a chance to read a little, but I do warn you it’s hard to stop after each chapter!

Reasons to Pass: This novel deals with very difficult topics including alcoholism, divorce, and death of a child.  Consider your own sensitivity towards these subjects before starting the book.

About the Book:

God was going to save her marriage, Allison was sure of it. But neither her husband nor her marriage had been saved.  What had become of His promise?

Tony Kavanagh had been Allison’s dream-come-true. They were in love within days, engaged within weeks, married and pregnant within a year. Her cup bubbled over with joy . . . but years later, that joy had been extinguished by unexpected trials.

The day Allison issued her husband an ultimatum, she thought it might save him. She never expected he would actually leave. She was certain God had promised to heal; it was clear that she’d misunderstood.

Now, living in the quiet mountain cabin she inherited from her single, self-reliant Great Aunt Emma, Allison must come to terms with her grief and figure out how to adapt to small town life. But when she finds a wedding dress and a collection of journals in Emma’s attic, a portrait of her aunt emerges that takes Allison completely by surprise: a portrait of a heartbroken woman surprisingly like herself.

As Allison reads the incredible story of Emma’s life in the 1920s and 1930s, she is forced to ask a difficult question: Does she really surrender every piece of her life to the Lord?

Drawing from her own heart-wrenching story of redemption, A Promise Kept is Robin Lee Hatcher’s emotionally charged thanksgiving to a God who answers prayers—in His own time and His own ways.

I work for Icon Media Group and we’re working on a new title that released the beginning of January and I wanted to see if you might be interested in reviewing it. We’d be looking for a review to post in February, and are happy for you to host a giveaway as well, if you’re interested. Chasing God
Let’s be honest: we’ve all questioned whether or not we’re doing this
“Christianity thing” the right way. Am I really a Christian? If I’m doing
everything right, why do I feel so far from God? What am I missing?

Best-selling author and highly sought-after speaker Angie Smith struggled
with these same questions, and the answers she discovered inspired her new
book, Chasing God (B&H Publishing, January 2014). In Chasing God, Smith
unpacks how our earthly, unrealistic expectations of God result in us
chasing Him, keeping us from following Him.
